About Me

I am a St. Augustine based photographer with a B.F.A. in Photography. I strive to produce quality work that conveys the personality of my clients and not necessarily the genre of the time. I like images that are comfortable, aesthetic, and personal. Email me for rates at melanie@blackinkphoto.com.

Ancient City Martial Arts

Meet the instructors of Ancient City Martial Arts...
These guys are great with kids.  My son has been taking Hapkido with them for 3 years and he loves it.  They are extremely patient, energetic, and firm with the instruction.  (they are also not as scary in person as they look here)

behind the lens...

when i am not a 'photographer', i am a mother.  which means, i am always a photographer.  mothers can not get enough of or talk enough about their children.  many photographers find their way into this field in exactly this manner.  although i was a photographer before becoming a mother, i am no different.  photographing children is rewarding in numerable ways.  for example, almost every expression (happy, sad, or mad face) is entertaining.  additionally, photography captures the essence of the moment.  what may have been stressful, or hot, or exhausting doesn't have to translate onto the image unless we, behind the lens, make it so.

hello world...

i caught up with Jay & Ariel a few months ago to shoot their maternity pictures... and finally the very anticipated newborn shoot.  baby and infant pictures seem to speak for themselves so i won't say much here, however, this is one sweet little guy who is obviously very loved and adored.

Congratulations to one of my most favorite couples!
