yoga, anyone?

a few months ago my friend asked me to do a photo shoot for her and her family.  as she is an avid 'yogi', she posed for me in the 'standing bow'.  it should be noted that these were done on a rock 5 feet high in the beautiful Washington Oaks State Park.  i enjoyed these too much to keep them to myself...

i was given the special job of documenting my cousins' baptisms.  these two little people are so happy, so loved, and so special.  we love them dearly and are so excited to share this special day with them

Something old, something new...

in my recent travels, i went to visit my sister in Missouri.  my sister is one of those uniquely talented people, who are not only creative and crafty, but also genuine and original.  she has recently been giving new life to buttons lost long ago... buttons that may have slipped through the cracks unnoticed, buttons that may have dropped right off of your grandfather's coat sleeve.  visit her on etsy at

baby love...

along with photography, exercise is also one of my passions.  this led me to pursue a fitness training certification a few years ago... enter Ariel.
Ariel is one of those rare people who will brighten your day, regardless of how it started.  i met her with the intent to whip her into shape for her wedding, and somehow was fortunate enough to be her wedding photographer as well, and now her maternity photographer.  her and her husband, Jay, are some of the most hard working, generous people i've met...
not to mention a beautiful couple.  i know they will be great parents.

sweet dreams...

as the photographer in the family, I can't tell you my excitement to have the chance to photograph our newest little cousin at only 5 days old.  so sweet and perfect.  this little girl is the first after 4 boys for us.  I am thinking that she'll be well protected and maybe a tad bit spoiled in the years to come.  Congratulations Kerry and Jud on your precious miracle.

after finishing the final editing for Ally's birthday party, I came across a new favorite and wanted to post it for her mother.  she is such a doll and this shot emulates that entirely.

being blessed as I am, having married into a wonderful family, I have been given more and more children to photograph!  children are the ideal model, as they are always entertaining, moving, and changing.  as parents, we feel a need to document the faces and lives of our children.  this is most evident in infants, as they change from day to day, minute to minute.  as a photographer, I am given the opportunity to do this for others, to help moms and dads forever 'fix' fleeting moments.  this is a most precious and special gift to be able to give, especially for those who are away serving our country.  and I am most honored to be given this special task.

there was a little girl...

   ... with a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead.  And that's about as far as it goes.  This is one of the sweetest little girls I've met.  We made friends instantly but when I let her look at my camera and take a picture, we became buddies.  I am hoping this will be a lifelong friendship.

last year...

I 'heart' this family.

Rebecca and Jacob have become my friends.  They are super loyal to me as a photographer.  They are phenomenal people.  They are loved by everyone who knows them (including me).  They grow hot peppers.  What more can I say.
I have been blessed with the opportunity of documenting their life.  From their beautiful wedding to their beautiful little 1 year old, these three have given meaning to my status a 'photographer'.
